Della forma: sia nella tradizione cattolica sia nella tradizione evangelica la Missa Brevis è praticamente la messa ordinaria, nella quale vengono omesse alcune parti riservate invece alle messe solenni.

Del disco: “Missa Brevis”, registrata in una chiesa evangelica di Graz, è una composizione per «pipe organ, gongs, bowed cymbals/bells & 7-channel electronic tape».

Della musica: « In the first part of the piece 2 gongs in the room get excited by their respective spectral harmonics using sound pressure transducers and a fieldrecording of an african mass is projected onto a large glas plate in the church via a third transducer.
The second part enters with sub-bass sine tones, continuing in higher spectral tones distributed over 4 loudspeakers and joined by the organ.
In the third and last part 4 voices of a choir - where each singer was recorded seperately - are assigned respectively to the 4 loudspeakers and solidify over time by a spectral transformation process. The organ accompanies the spatial choir and ends the piece along with the excited gongs».

Che altro dire se non che Lercher centra appieno l`obiettivo nel dare vigore contemporaneo e organizzazione futurista a una forma antica qual è quella della messa, stravolgendone le premesse senza incidere sulle suggestioni provocate dal risultato finale.
Un altro aspetto dell`ottimo lavoro svolto da Lercher riguarda la contaminazione culturale che sottende alla sua missa brevis, dove i suoni di gongs e cimbali, le registrazioni di una messa africana e le elaborazioni elettroniche vanno a inquinare il, comunque splendido, suono dell`organo a canne.
D`altronde Lercher è un musicista affermato nell`ambito della scena mitteleuropea ed è nella norma attendersi opere di questa portata.
